Admission Arrangements

Admissions to the Reception classes

Children are admitted to our school in the academic year in which they are 5 years old. In the term before they start school there is a full induction programme including a home visit from the Reception teacher and a series of school visits.

Prospective parents are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school. Our head teacher will gladly give you a tour of the school and answer any questions you may have. Alternatively you may visit the school during one of the open afternoons that are held in the latter part of the Autumn Term.

If you wish to apply for a place at Holy Trinity School, please fill in a school application form which is available below or from the School Secretary. It is advisable to complete an application form as soon as possible. You are also required to fill in a West Sussex County Council form which should be completed online or returned to the Pupil Admissions Team at WSCC. Applications will not be considered until these completed forms have been received, by the advertised deadline.  The number of children admitted each year is 60.

A copy of the admissions policy is included below. If a place is not offered, parents/carers have a legal right to appeal to an independent Appeals Panel. Details may be obtained from the School Secretary and are outlined in the admissions policy. A map showing the West Sussex County Council agreed boundary of the catchment area of the school is available below.

Where an appeal panel does not admit a child, the parents may request that the child’s name be entered on a waiting list. If a place becomes available in the appropriate year it will be allocated using the admissions criteria. A place will be offered in order of priority to those children on the waiting list at the time. The place will not be allocated according to the length of time a child has been on the waiting list. The waiting list will run through the academic year and will cease at the start of the following Autumn Term, when parents need to consider whether they wish their child to be put on to the new waiting list.

Holy Trinity Admissions Policy and Oversubscription Criteria

These documents are reviewed annually and you can find information for the relevant year by clicking on the appropriate document, ie: for 2015 means the policy concerns those children applying for a place in the school year starting September 2015 up until August 2016; for pupils starting Reception in September 2016 'Admissions Policy and Application for 2016'.

Admissions - Transferring from another School

Parents/carers seeking admission for a child aged between 5 and 11 years of age should contact the school directly as well as contacting school admissions department at West Sussex. If there is a place available the Headteacher will offer it on behalf of the Governors. Parents/carers have a legal right to appeal to an independent Appeals Panel.

Admissions - Transferring to Secondary School

Children leave Holy Trinity School at the end of the academic year in which they become 11. You will have the opportunity to visit local secondary schools in the preceding Autumn Term and you will then be requested to complete a secondary transfer form. West Sussex County Council administrates secondary transfer procedures. The majority of our pupils transfer to Warden Park School, which is located in Cuckfield.
